Survey winner

Sally-Anne Hoyle from Bellingdon End Supplies, Chesham, Bucks is the winner of a digital camera. Her name was drawn at random from all those participating in the survey regarding work-based learning. Thank you to all those who participated.

CPD and audits

Congratulations to the over 400 SQPs who have already completed the minimum CPD points requirement. SQPs have accumulated, on average, 25 CPD points each, with plenty of time yet before June 2011 to reach the minimum.

We’ve recorded points from 131 events so far. A few have been provided directly by AMTRA or by AMTRA in partnership with OTC, but most are provided by third parties. To be confident of the content of CPD seminars, all of them have to be accredited and booked in advance with the AMTRA office, and they are subject to random audit. I’m pleased that all of the audits carried out have been very positive, with only minor suggestions for consideration. We are grateful for the support given by others, particularly the medicine manufacturers, to providing CPD for SQPs – without their support, it would all be a lot more expensive for SQPs.

Registering SQP premises

All VPS medicines must be supplied from registered premises. It’s not always well understood that the process of becoming an SQP is quite distinct from the necessary process of registering the premises.

I’ve updated the page on becoming an SQP to make that clearer, and added a new page on SQP Retailers’ Premises Registration.

We’re using this as part of a “What happens now?” leaflet we’re preparing, which will be given to everyone as they qualify as an SQP.
